Triesta Sciences was incepted as an independent laboratory given the critical importance of the right diagnosis in oncology management.
From the preliminary diagnosis based on prior lab tests, we have come a long way today to offer latest advancements including molecular diagnostics, immunohistochemistry, and genomics.
In the future, we will look at other forms of omics and this would include not only regular lab studies but digital pathology, and precision in pathology to know the tumor type (hot or cold tumor), the level of tumor aggressiveness based on digital pathology, sub-typing of this pathology, coupled with genomics to understand the mutations which could possibly cause recurrence or resistance to treatment.
Going forward, we shall be using these modalities in conjunction with imaging called radiomics to complete the loop. Even in recurrent diseases, the reason for recurrence and the treatment modality will depend on proper pathology, genomics, and associated omics as well the circulating tumor cells.
Hence the importance of the right diagnosis the first time is a must to ensure proper and right treatment for cancer patients.
